TRAVEL TIPS
PASSPORT
Don't forget to bring your passport! While the Mexican government requires that your passport be valid for the duration of your stay, some airlines may adhere to the U.S. rule requiring passports to have at least six months validity from the date of entry. To avoid any travel disruptions, please verify the passport requirements with your airline(s) before departure.
POWER CONVERTERS & ADAPTERS
Guests from North America do not need a power converter, as Mexico uses the standard 110V, the same as the US and Canada. However, guests from Australia and Israel will need a voltage converter due to the different standard (230V in Australia vs. 110V in Mexico).
In addition to voltage considerations, all guests should check if they need a plug adapter. Mexican outlets typically accept American two-prong flat pins. If your device uses a different plug type, such as a three-prong plug, an Australian plug, or an Israeli plug, you will need an adapter to use your electronics in Mexico.
TIPPING
Tipping is customary and appreciated in Mexico. In restaurants, a tip of 15-20% is standard, and you can tip in either dollars or pesos. For smaller services like taxis or cafes, rounding up or adding a small amount in pesos is also appreciated.
WATER SAFETY
It's best to drink bottled water during your stay. Avoid ice unless you are certain it is made from purified water.
TRANSPORTATION
AROUND SAN MIGUEL:
Taxis, Ubers, and other rideshare services are readily available and generally safe to use. Agree on fares beforehand when using taxis to avoid confusion.
TO & FROM THE AIRPORT:
See "Airport Shuttle Services" section above for details.
BRING TENNIS SHOES FOR WALKING
San Miguel is a highly walkable city and most people prefer to walk everywhere. Part of it’s charm includes its cobblestone streets which, while beautiful, can be tricky to navigate—especially if you don't have the right shoes. We highly recommend wearing tennis shoes or sneakers for comfort as you explore. Flats and sandals may not provide enough support for the uneven surfaces. Heels are a definite no-go!
SAFETY TIPS
San Miguel de Allende is known for being a very safe destination with little to no crime. However, as with any travel, exercise common sense.
Where to Stay
Stay with Us
LIVE AQUA HOTEL
We would LOVE for you to join us at Live Aqua Hotel, our host hotel for the wedding weekend, where the majority of our guests will be staying. We have secured a room block with discounted rates for our group. For booking details and more information on the hotel, please click the buttons below.
OTHER OPTIONS
One of the primary reasons we selected San Miguel for our wedding is its unique combination of being a compact city—where everything is within walking distance—while still offering a wide array of accommodation options to fit every budget and style preference. Should you opt for accommodations beyond the Live Aqua hotel block, we encourage personal research to find your ideal match. We highly recommend you find something that is within a comfortable walking distance for you from Live Aqua hotel. This way, you will be close to all of the wedding events, and we will get to spend as much time with you as possible!
Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
We STRONGLY recommend staying at Live Aqua hotel, where we have arranged a special rate for our guests. The hotel is conveniently located next to the venue for Friday's event, and transportation for Saturday's wedding will depart from and return here. If you prefer a different option, San Miguel has many charming boutique hotels and AirBnBs. We encourage you to explore these if you're looking for variety.
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY HOTEL?
We recommend booking your hotel as soon as you can. For those interested in staying at Live Aqua, where we have reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate, please note that availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Booking early will ensure you secure a spot at this preferred location.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We recommend arriving on Thursday, December 12th if possible, as we will kick off the weekend with welcome drinks on Thursday evening. San Miguel has so much to offer, and this gives you a full day on Friday to explore and enjoy the town. If you can't make it for the welcome event, arriving on Friday is perfectly fine too. You will have additional time to explore Saturday morning and early afternoon. Also, consider extending your stay before or after the wedding to fully experience the magic of San Miguel. We will be around all week before the wedding and all day Sunday, departing on Monday morning.
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED FOR THE WEDDING WEEKEND?
THURSDAY
The weekend will begin with rooftop welcome drinks and desserts on Thursday evening at 9:00 PM at Fatima 7 Rooftop.
FRIDAY
Friday is a free day for exploring San Miguel. In the evening, join us for a rehearsal dinner and drinks at 6:00 PM at Prime Steak Club, conveniently located near Live Aqua Hotel. Be sure to check out our ‘Things to Do’ page for recommendations on shopping, dining, and activities!
SATURDAY
Saturday morning and early afternoon you have some more time to explore. Please be sure to arrive at Live Aqua Hotel by 4:00 PM to catch the provided shuttle transportation. The wedding ceremony at Rancho Luna Escondida will begin promptly at 5:00 PM, followed by the reception. Shuttles will depart from and return to Live Aqua Hotel. Upon arrival at the venue, you’ll be greeted with a champagne welcome before the ceremony begins.
ARE CHILDREN WELCOME AT THE WEDDING EVENTS?
Our wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday are adult-only events. However, children are welcome to join the Thursday and Friday events. For those staying at Live Aqua, the hotel offers a Kids' Club and certified babysitters. Guests not staying at Live Aqua can also access certified babysitters we recommend.
AM I INVITED TO THE FRIDAY NIGHT REHEARSAL DINNER?
Absolutely! We are happy to invite all of our guests to the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. It will be a great opportunity to gather and celebrate together before the big day. The event will be very close to Live Aqua hotel (1-minute walk). More details about the time and venue will be provided closer to the event. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Dress Code
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
GENERAL ADVICE:
San Miguel's weather is warm during the day but cools off at night. We recommend bringing a light jacket for evenings and comfortable walking shoes, ideally tennis shoes, for navigating the city's cobblestone streets.
THURSDAY - WELCOME PARTY:
Dress Code: Casual attire, colors encouraged
The event will be held in town, about a 10-minute walk from Live Aqua Hotel. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes if you decide to walk. If you prefer sandals or heels, consider a quick Uber or taxi ride, which shouldn't cost more than $5 USD.
FRIDAY - REHEARSAL DINNER:
Dress Code: Cocktail Attire
The venue is just a 1-minute walk from Live Aqua hotel. While heels are fine given the short distance, you might find a lower block heel more comfortable. Ultimately, the choice is yours!
SATURDAY - WEDDING DAY (ALL BLACK):
The dress code is strictly all black, formal black tie.
Men: Black tuxedos with white shirts.
Women: We kindly request that you wear elegant, solid black, floor-length dresses or gowns appropriate for a formal event. For those who prefer an alternative to dresses, formal jumpsuits in upscale fabrics are also welcome. Please avoid any attire with color blocking, patterns, or casual fabrics. Please wear black, neutral, gold, or silver heels.
The transition from cocktail hour to reception involves a 5-minute walk on a paved, flat path. Please choose shoes that will be comfortable for this walk.
CAN I RENT A TUXEDO IN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE?
No, unfortunately, you cannot rent a tuxedo in San Miguel de Allende as there are no rental services available locally. If you plan to rent a tuxedo, we recommend contacting your preferred rental provider as early as possible to ensure the widest selection of items will be available. We also recommend finalizing your order at least 45 days before the wedding (i.e by October 30th), to allow time for shipping and any necessary adjustments.
20% OFF @ GENERATIONTUX.COM
If you are coming from the US, we have arranged a discount code with GenerationTux.com for our guests: GTCXADAMANDCOCO. This code requires a minimum of a suit or tuxedo, and will expire on 11/14/24.
